Created out of community need and appeals from parents, Pusat Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Kajang Selangor (PKIK) started its services on 5th June 1995 through initiative and efforts of Rotary Club of Kajang.
To-date the center has 34 children with 18 students enrolled in the Early Intervention Programme (EIP) and 16 students in the Day Training Programme (DTP). There are 2 teachers and 6 volunteers working with the students in the DTP and 1 teacher for EIP. The students are from Kajang and the surrounding areas of Semenyih, Bangi, Serdang, Cheras and as far as Kuala Lumpur.
As a welfare-based centre, PKIK is totally dependent on donations and contributions from organisations, associations, societies, clubs, members of the public, parents and families.
PKIK was initiated by the Rotary Club of Kajang in June, 1995. Since August 1997, PKIK is managed by "PERSATUAN KANAK-KANAK ISTIMEWA KAJANG SELANGOR" a society officially registered on May 6, 1998 through a committee of 11 members comprising of parents and the members of the community. A fulltime Administrator is responsible for the daily affairs and the running of PKIK.
